Therapy Intensives
Sometimes meaningful healing
needs more than 53 minutes.
There are seasons in life when traditional weekly therapy simply isn't enough time. Whether you're navigating grief, processing trauma, facing a major life transition, or feeling stuck despite your best efforts, a Therapy Intensive offers dedicated time to slow down, explore deeply, and focus on what matters most.
Rather than trying to fit important work into a single therapy hour, an intensive creates space for meaningful reflection, emotional processing, and integration—at a pace that honors your nervous system and your unique story.
Every intensive is personalized. Together, we determine your goals, select therapeutic approaches that fit your needs, and create a plan designed specifically for you.
What Is a Therapy Intensive?
A Therapy Intensive is an extended psychotherapy session that allows us to focus on one meaningful goal without feeling rushed.
Unlike several therapy sessions scheduled back-to-back, an intensive is thoughtfully designed around your individual needs. There is time to pause, reflect, regulate, process, and integrate as we move through the work together.
Depending on your goals, your intensive may include:
-EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
-Attachment-focused therapy
-Nervous system regulation
-Mindfulness
-Guided reflection
-Meaning-making
-Memory processing
-Compassion-focused interventions
-Practical planning and integration
Not every intensive includes every approach. We will decide together what best supports your healing.

Therapy Intensives FAQ’s
How long are Therapy Intensives?
Most intensives are offered in 2-, 3-, or 4-hour formats. We'll determine together which length best fits your goals.
Will we spend the entire time doing EMDR?
Not necessarily. Some intensives include EMDR, while others focus on grief processing, nervous system regulation, reflection, meaning-making, or other therapeutic approaches. Every intensive is individualized.
Can I have an intensive if I'm a new client?
Possibly. We'll begin with a consultation to determine whether an intensive is appropriate and whether additional preparation would be helpful beforehand.
Are breaks included?
Yes. Breaks are encouraged as needed to support emotional regulation and integration.
Can an intensive take place in my home?
Yes, when clinically appropriate and agreed upon together. Some goals are best addressed within the environments where daily life and meaningful memories naturally occur.
What if I become emotionally overwhelmed?
Strong emotions are a natural part of many intensives. We will move at a pace that feels manageable, using grounding, regulation, and therapeutic support throughout the process.
Will I leave feeling "finished"?
Healing is rarely about being finished. Most clients leave with greater clarity, reduced emotional intensity, new insights, and a personalized plan for continuing their work after the intensive.
Does insurance cover Therapy Intensives?
Coverage depends on your insurance plan and the services provided. We'll discuss fees, payment options, and any insurance considerations during your consultation. The honest answer is some of the initial phases, intake, goal setting, but not the actual time of 2-4 hours.
